1972 Husqvarna 450

1972 Husqvarna 450

This 1972 Husqvarna 450 is very original and only has a few “race” hours on it. When the original owner picked it up from the dealer, it came equipped with the “SkyWay” Spark arrestor.  The owner took it out to a 60 mile desert race, completed the race and parked the bike never to ride it again! The bike is amazingly original and in great shape.  You don’t find bikes of this age, in this shape, very often……

Restoration Services

I thought it might be of interest and of some help to display some of the work of a close friend and restorer who, does have time to take on new projects.  Noble Butler has been restoring bikes for over twenty years.  It started out as a hobby but has grown into a sideline business.  Noble has a broad pool of resources for plating, polishing, painting  and machine work on motors.  He does most of the basic engine work himself.  Turn around time on a basic restoration is
around 2-3 months depending on part availability and extent of the restoration (concours quality or race ready).  I can tell you that his prices are hard to beat and the quality of his work speaks for itself.

Noble is located in Southern California and can be reached on his cell phone at (760)234-7946 or by email at: nbutler760@hotmail.com

April 28, 2021 By ndrake55

On Any Sunday

Steve McQueen’s Husqvarna CR400

This Husqvara has been confirmed as the bike ridden by Steve McQueen. It was confirmed in files once kept by Edison Dye. As you may know, Edison was the exclusive importer for Husqvarna motorcycles for many years here in the United States.

This bike will be on display at the San Diego Automotive Museum  from  January 8, 2008 through March 25, 2008.   ( Click Here )

1970 Husqvarna 400 “8 Speed”

April 28, 2021 By ndrake55

1970 Husqvarna 400 “8 Speed”

Factory built 8 speed for Malcolm Smith

On December 17, 1970 a Factory built 400cc 8-Speed engine was received by MED- INTERNATIONAL in La Mesa, California, via air- freight. According to the memo from Edison Dye, engine (#410024 8M) was a “special 400cc 8-speed built especially for desert” and destined for Malcolm Smith. The prefix 41xxxx was utilized for a limited number of Factory ISDT engines in Europe. It is unheard of that one of these engines would be shipped to the States.

Lennart Emanuelsson, an employee at the Husqvarna Museum in Sweden, was able to confirm additional information on the bike’s history. On November 13, 1970,  (MH 4844) a late year frame which featured the most up-to-date engineering, left  the Factory in Sweden and was shipped in a larger batch of motorcycles addressed to Los Angeles,
USA. The MED-INTERNATIONAL invoice #08403 dated February 3, 1971, indicates that this shipment was also destined for Malcolm Smith.

At some point in Malcolm’s shop, the 8-speed motor was installed in the MH frame. The current owner has made every effort to document the history of this bike by contacting individuals who worked at Husqvarna, previous owners and Malcolm Smith. There has been a lot of speculation as to how Malcolm used this bike.  At this time, because there
is no “paper trail” to confirm the stories, the current owner has elected to share only the bike’s “known History”

1976 CZ400 Unrestored

This 1976 CZ400 was found along with the 1976 CZ250. Both bikes were complete and original.  They both were 1975 Falta’s that had been modified by American Jawa/CZ.

The modifications included laid down shocks, Preston Petty Fenders and Mikuni carburetors. This bike is no longer in
my collection.

1976 CZ250 Unrestored

This is an unrestored 1976 CZ that has never had fuel in it! It was in amazingly good condition for it’s age.  It is no longer in my collection…..
